Arco Iris Spanish Immersion School serves nutritious meals that meet standards set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Our Nutrition Services Department is fully self-supporting using funds from sales of meals and reimbursement from USDA.

Obtaining Meal Benefits
 
  • Apply on paper. Forms are available online or in the school office if you believe you may qualify for benefits. All personal information regarding your application will be kept confidential at all times. You can also email the application to [email protected].
 
  • Letter from DHS/SNAP/TANF. If you receive a letter from the Department of Human Services (DHS) that qualifies your student(s), you do not need to fill out an application.
 
  • Letter from Beaverton School District or any other district you've attended previously. Submit a copy of this letter, If you received a letter from Beaverton School District, please provide a copy of that letter to us. We DO NOT have access to the BSD system. 
 
  • Only one application per household is needed. A new application is required each school year, unless you have already received an Eligibility Notification-Free Meals Letter. 
 
  • Once an application has been received it is processed and a letter is sent to the household with the determination 
Submitting applications before the school year begins
We encourage all eligible families to submit a new application for meal benefits prior to the start of each new school year. This allows the application to be processed and the correct eligibility established before school starts. Copies of applications will also be available at the school office.
 
Submitting applications during the school year
Applications are accepted anytime throughout the school year and can be submitted to the office or mailed to the school
 
When should you expect to receive a response? 

We strive to respond in 24 to 48 hours. During the beginning of the school year, it can take a little longer because of the number of applications that we receive.

 

Should you expect to receive a response via phone, mail, or email? From whom (person/title, entity, or department)?

The response comes from the Lunch Program director, via a letter sent home with the student or via email. Free & Reduced information is confidential and we try not to send any information via email. If the parent would like a notification via email, it is possible to request that. Any information regarding Free & Reduced approval/denial sent via email will not include confidential information for that child/family. A letter will be sent home even if parents request an email notification.

 

What happens after the application is approved?

After we approve the application, the school will order lunches for your student for the entire month. If you know your student only wants specific days, please submit a menu by the deadline.

Program information may be made available in languages other than English. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication to obtain program information (e.g., Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language), should contact the responsible state or local agency that administers the program or USDA’s TARGET Center at (202) 720-2600 (voice and TTY) or contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/USDA-OASCR%20P-Complaint-Form-0508-0002-508-11-28-17Fax2Mail.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
